The Grand Prairie Farmers Market is getting a little wild with a petting zoo Saturday, Aug. 3, at Market Square, 120 W. Main St., 8 a.m.-1 p.m. The Prairie Paws Waggin' Wagon mobile adoption trailer will also be on site with adoptable animals from the animal shelter.

Rock and Roll follows furry friends on Saturday, Aug. 108 a.m.-1 p.m. Family friendly local bands will play all your favorites, in addition to hula-hoop contests, food trucks and a bounce house.

Things will be buzzing Saturday, Aug. 17, with free Bee Keeping classes presented by Roundrock Honey at 10 a.m. and noon.

Then, heat it up at the Hatch Chile Festival Saturday, Aug. 24, featuring delicious raw and hot roasted Hatch chiles available for purchase. The market will also offer a gift market, a strolling Zydeco band, bounce house, game trucks and food trucks. Be sure to bring the whole family out for the Hatch Chile Festival.

And finally, cool things off with a Make It and Take It Rain Barrel class Saturday, Aug. 31. The class costs $35 for Grand Prairie residents and $50 for non-residents. The class will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and pre-registration is required. Send a check or money order payable to the city of Grand Prairie to: Selena Jackson, P.O. The Grand Prairie Farmers Market sells locally grown fruits and vegetables, meats, cheeses, wines, tamales, candles, soaps and much more. The market is open every Saturday, March to December, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
