Texas Trees Foundation Honors President JFK with a Region Wide Tree Planting Event of 2,000 Trees

On Saturday, November 2, Texas Trees Foundation will honor the life, leadership and legacy of President John F. Kennedy with the planting of seven tree groves in seven cities throughout Dallas-Fort Worth. The seven participating cities include Arlington, Dallas, Denton, Garland, Grand Prairie, Irving and Rowlett.

The seven cities one day event will kick-off at 10 a.m. at the Dallas and Garland tree planting location at Friendship Park, 12556 Hornbeam Dr, Dallas, TX 75243. The kick-off will include speakers from each participating city. Volunteers can visit www.texastrees.org for more information.

“The Texas Trees Foundation is proud to be a part of honoring and celebrating the life of President Kennedy. President Kennedy, on many occasions referenced trees as an analogy of “we have no time to lose — let us plant our trees this afternoon. The best time to plant a tree was 50 years ago and as we pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy’s death we will plant trees,” said Texas Trees Foundation President Janette Monear. “A project involving seven cities around the area is a wonderful community endeavor and planting 2,000 trees in remembrance of our former President leaves a legacy for future generations.”

Sponsors for the event include Atmos Energy, Calloway’s Nursery, and The Meadows Foundation.

Atmos Energy is proud to partner with the Texas Trees Foundation to commemorate a great leader. Safe planting equals healthy communities. We encourage everyone to Call 811 before you Dig", said Celina Cardenas, Atmos Energy Manager of Public Affairs.
