One of the most iconic dresses in history is on display at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Grand Prairie Odditorium. The gown Marilyn Monroe wore to serenade President John F. Kennedy on his 45th birthday is now the world’s most expensive dress after being purchased by Ripley’s for $4.8 million. It will be at the Grand Prairie Odditorium for a limited time, beginning Friday, September 22.
Ripley’s Believe It or Not! is also hosting Marilyn Monroe movie nights outside each Saturday in October, weather permitting. The second showing is Saturday, October 14, featuring “How to Marry a Millionaire.” In the movie, Marilyn Monroe is one of three women on a mission – to marry millionaires. In their quest, the ladies move into a fancy New York City apartment and while they have no trouble meeting the rich men, most of them are not upstanding gentlemen. Ultimately the women have to decide if a life of luxury is more important than finding true love.
The movie is free to watch. Showings start at 7:30pm.
Come dressed as Marilyn Monroe and enter the look-a-like contest for the chance to win awesome prizes. Judging for the best Marilyn look-a-like will happen before the movie at 6:30pm. Check-in at the ticket booth.
